mining conditions, and other factors, over the life of the Cresson Project. These
backfilled areas will be reclaimed in much the same manner as the OSAs. Slopes on the
backfill adjacent to the surrounding undisturbed terrain will be graded to an overall slope
of approximately 2.5H:1V. Discrete slopes may vary in steepness within this overall
slope to generate irregular landforms for wildlife habitate. Drawing F -1 and the financial
warranty calculations have been conservatively developed based on an overall 2.5H:1V
slope criterion for all backfill materials. Portions of the Main Cresson backfill will need
to be graded and reclaimed at an approximate 2H:1V slope due to placement constraints.
Benches with varying widths, spacing, and grades may be developed along the slopes to
control erosion, facilitate access for reclamation, or provide sites for tree and shrub
plantings.
Growth medium will be used to cover the overburden placed as backfill. Section 12.2
discusses that about six inches of growth medium is expected to be available to cover the
areas for reclamation. The growth medium may be sampled to determine the need for
additional soil amendments. Vegetation will be established according to the revegetation
procedures presented in Section 12.3.
Portions of Main Cresson Mine area are expected to be partially backfilled as shown on
Drawings C -4, C -5 and F -1. The backfill will be truck dumped in lifts of varying heights
depending on the location of haul roads in that portion of the mine area. The backfilled
material will be placed at an approximate 2H:1V slope and is not expected to approach
close to the elevation of the natural ground surface. Where practical and safe to do so,
this backfill will be graded and reclaimed. Portions of the Main Cresson Mine area
backfill will be graded and reclaimed at an approximate 2H:1V slope due to placement
constraints.
No backfill will be placed in the northern portion of the South Cresson portion of Main
Cresson Mine area or in the eastern portion of the Globe Hill portion of the North
Cresson Mine area. The final configuration of these areas will remain as defined by
Cresson Project development. Growth medium will be redistributed on flat benches and
to a limited extent on the un- backfilled bottom portions of the mine areas to a depth of
approximately six inches or less depending on accessibility.
Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mining Company
Cresson Project Mine Life Extension 2
12 -13
