Please let us know when you hear
anything new, and if you have a chance please remind GCC Energy they will also need a Class li land use permit from La
Plata County.
Thanks
Jim
From: Jim Davis
Sent: Tuesday, March 06, 2012 8 :20 AM
To: 'Bruce Baizel'
Cc: Wally White
Subject: RE: king coal mine
Bruce: I appreciate the update. We have been in touch with Helen Mary Johnson with the BLM in regard the proposed
Mine Expansion as part of the mine is located on BLM land. Unfortunately !Nancy Lauro was mistaken when she seat a
letter in 2006 as some of the Mine is operating on fee land.
We put GCC Energy (I met with them last November) and the BLM on notice they are required to obtain a Class it land
use permit as their operation and expansion plans involve fee land. We have also informed GCC Energy (and the BLM)
they will need to complete a traffic study to address the traffic impacts. I will also follow up with the Colorado Division
of Reclamation Mining and Safety.
Please let us know if you hear anything else.
Thanks
Jim Davis, P.E.
Director of Public Works
