9.0 Appendix A. Survey dates and inventory methods for the McClave Canyon mine
loadout facility.
Survey Methods: Breeding Bird Surveys
Transects: Two line - transects were established in the project area; both were established in the
greasewood shrublands that border Reed Wash. GPS coordinates of birds displaying
territorial behavior were recorded. Transects were conducted between 0.5 hrs after
sunrise until approximately 10:30 a.m. All potential breeding birds were recorded with
no limit on distance from the established transect line.
Spot Mapping: GPS coordinates were recorded for birds displaying territorial breeding
behavior or attending to active nest sites. Spot mapping surveys were conducted along
Reed Wash.
