EXHIBIT 9
PROTECTION OF THE HYDRCLOGIC BALANCE - FRUITA LOADOUT
Sediment Ponds 1 -3, culverts, ditches, silt fences and Topsoil pile #2 SAE
Notes for Calculations:
1. Culverts W -1, W -1 a, W -2, W -3, W-4 and W -5 are on the West side of Reed Wash. They have
been designed using the 100 -year event, per Union Pacific Technical Specifications and the peak
flows are shown on page Exh. 9 -2. Curve numbers and drainage areas for the culverts begin on
page Exh. 9-62 and SEDCAD data sheets begin on page Exh. 9-65. The nomograph used for
sizing the culverts is shown on page Exh. 9 -64.
2. Sediment Ponds 1 -3 are designed to contain the run -off from the 25 year precipitation event.
3. Pages Exh. 9 -3 & 4 present a spread sheet calculation of the required capacity of Sediment Pond
#1 based on the 25 year event. Pages Exh. 9 -5 through 9 -7 provide a SEDCAD calculation and
confirmation of required storage size of pond #1. Ditch sizing begins on page Exh. 9-8.
4. Pages Exh. 9 -21 & 22 present a spread sheet calculation of the required capacity of Sediment
Pond #2 based on the 25 year event. Pages Exh. 9- 23 through 25 provide a SEDCAD
calculation and confirmation of the required storage size of pond #2. Ditch sizing begins on page
Exh. 9 -26.
5. Pages Exh. 9 -35 & 36 present a spread sheet calculation of the required capacity of Sediment
Pond #3 based on the 25 -year event. Pages Exh. 9 -37 through 39 provide a SEDCAD calculation
and confirmation of the required storage size of pond #3. Ditch sizing begins on page Exh. 9-40.
6. Drainage areas and ditch & culvert locations are shown on Map 13 for Ponds 1 -3. Ditches were
sized using SEDCAD4 and were sized using the 10 -year event . Culverts were sized per the
event shown on page Exh. 9 -2. Minimum culvert diameter to be installed is 18 ".
7. Pages Exh. 9-48 through 9-60 show the design for the silt fences ( #1 - #11) that provide
sedimentation control for areas of the rail spur within 100' feet of Reed Wash, or drainage that will
flow into wetland type vegetation west of Reed Wash. Each silt fence was designed using the 10-
yr 24 -hr event. Data is shown on an Excel spreadsheet that has been summarized from the
SedCad output. Silt Fences #12 and 13 are shown on Map -16 but not designed as the drainage
area is so small it does not generate enough run off for SedCad to evaluate.
8. Culverts 3 through 6 as shown on Exh. 9 -2 are used to outlet flow from SF-8 & 9 and SF -12 & 13
as shown on Map -16. Each pipe will be flexible, and sized as shown on page Exh. 9 -2. The pipes
will outlet directly into the vegetation on the banks of Reed Wash in order to minimize bank
erosion.
9. SEDCAD data sheets for designed culverts begin on page Exh. 9-65.
10. SEDCAD data sheets for the topsoil pile #2 SAE begin on page 9-82 and location is shown on
Map -16.
ENGINEER'S CERTIFICATION
The calculations and information presented on pages Exh. 9 -1 through Exh. 9-84 with date of 08/11 were
prepared by me during the month of August 2011, and the information presented is true and correct to
the best of my knowlfk86S§98%*liaf.
Date
Permit Application EXH. 9 -1 08/11
