Plan include notice to the DOW of any spill, accident or release of chemicals, fuel, or other
contaminant material in a riparian area or entering a stream, wetland or water body.
We recommend incorporation of recognized Best Management Practices (BMPS) at the loadout site
during construction to further ensure protection of Reed Wash. Similarly, we ask that berming and
storm water BMPS, including sediment ponds, be incorporated and applied to reduce and /or eliminate
run on and run off in the area designated as the land farm.
In regard to mitigation, we support the ideas suggested in the reports. A conclusion as to whether
those actions will adequately compensate for wildlife impacts will hinge on the amount of habitat the
mitigation ideas are applied to. Without that knowledge, we are unable to make a recommendation
on the adequacy of the impact mitigation plan.
Our staff appreciates the opportunity to comment at this stage of the process. Our staff is available to
discuss these recommendations in further detail if you desire.
Sincerely,
5
Area Wildlife Manager
cc. Velarde, Creeden, File
