EXHIBIT 5
IRRIGATED PASTURE
Located within the actively irrigated areas in the extreme western portion of the proposed
Loadout Permit Area are two small areas which correspond to the Irrigated Pasture vegetation
type. Since this vegetation type occurs in locations which will not be affected by the proposed
disturbance they are not sampled in the vegetation sampling effort. Vegetatively these areas
are very similar to the Irrigated Wetland vegetation type which was sampled.
The total area of the Irrigated Pasture vegetation type as shown on Map 3, Permit Area
Vegetation Map, is 0.18 acres in size and this type equals 0.01 percent of the proposed loadout
permit area. Very limited disturbance, consisting of a proposed railroad loop is proposed for
this area. There will be not disturbance planned for this area given the extremely small area of
this vegetation type it was not be necessary to perform actual vegetation sampling of this area.
REFERENCE AREA VEGETATION SAMPLING
GREASEWOOD REFERENCE AREA
The Greasewood Reference Area sampled in connection with the proposed Unit Train Loadout
area is located inside the proposed railroad loop in an area that will not be disturbed and is
located just to the west of Reed Wash. The location of this proposed reference area is shown
on Map 3, Permit Area Vegetation Map. The results obtained from the sampling of this site are
presented below.
Plant Cover. The results obtained from the sampling of the 36 plant cover transects on the
Greasewood Reference Area are presented in Table 2.04.10 -12, Greasewood Reference Area -
Plant Cover. Total plant cover on this site averaged 19.14 percent and litter averaged 18.69
percent.
Four plant life forms were encountered in the cover sampling of this site. Native perennial
forbs were the dominant plant life form encountered on this site, contributing 11.69 percent of
the total plant cover and 6 1. 10 percent of the total relative cover found on this site. Native
shrubs were the second most dominant plant life form, contributing 6.67 percent of the total
plant cover and 34.83 percent of the total relative cover found on this site. Annuals contributed
0.58 percent of the total plant cover and 3.05 percent of the total relative cover found on this
area. Native perennial grasses contributed 1.02 percent of total relative cover found on this
area.
Gray Molly, a native perennial forb was the most dominant plant species encountered,
contributing 6 1. 10 percent of the total relative plant cover found on this site.
