2.04.4 Cultural and Historic Resources Information <br />(1) Cultural and Historic Resource Reports are presented in Volume I Tab 2. <br />Surface Facilities <br />Grand River Institute (GRI) conducted a Class III cultural resource inventory <br />for the proposed loadout area in Mesa County, Colorado. A files search was <br />completed on 30 April 2010. The pedestrian field inventory, which included <br />197 acres of private land, was carried out between the 12th and 14th of May <br />2010. This work was conducted by and the report prepared by Cad E. Conner <br />(Principal Investigator), Barbara Davenport, Nicole Darnell, Jim Conner, and <br />Dana Archuleta, under BLM Antiquities Permit No. C- 52775. <br />The files search indicated that no cultural resources had been previously <br />recorded within the block area. A search of the historic government land office <br />survey maps dated 1918 by Tufts, indicated that the historic Salt Lake Wagon <br />Road passed through the present study area near its southwest corner. No <br />evidence of the road could be found within the present project boundary. <br />Additionally, approximately 60 acres of the present survey block has been <br />previously disturbed by the construction of evaporation ponds. As a result of <br />the survey, three historic isolated finds (5ME17170 through 5ME17172) were <br />recorded. All the resources were field evaluated as not eligible for listing <br />on the National Register of Historic Places and no further work is required. <br />Accordingly, archaeological clearance was recommended. <br />Permit Application 2.04 -5 08/11 <br />
