2.03.12 Newspaper Advertisement <br />CAM - Colorado, LLC, 2352 North 7th Street, Unit C, Grand Junction, CO 81501, has submitted a <br />complete application for a permit to conduct coal mining in Colorado to the Division of Reclamation, <br />Mining and Safety for its proposed Fruita Loadout. The proposed loadout will tie into the Union <br />Pacific mainline west or Reed Gulch. The spur track travels west from the tie in then makes a wide <br />turn to reverse direction from westerly to easterly. The spur track will bridge over Reed Wash. The <br />unit train loadout loop, coal stockpile and coal loading facilities will be located east of Reed Wash. <br />Coal will be hauled to the unit train loadout facility by others in highway legal trucks. Coal will be <br />dumped from the trucks and placed into stockpile by belt conveyors. Coal will be reclaimed from the <br />stockpile and conveyed to the unit train loadout. The unit train loadout will flood load rail cars. Coal <br />throughput at the loadout will increase with time and should not exceed about one million tons per <br />year. Unit trains will be loaded approximately twice per week at maximum throughput. Most of the <br />coal will initially be obtained from the McClane Canyon Mine. <br />The spur track and loadout are located south of State Highway 6 & 50, north of Interstate 70 and <br />west of the old Fruita Refinery. Reed Wash runs through the central portion of the proposed permit <br />boundary. Loma Drain runs through the western edge of the permit boundary. The proposed mine <br />permit area is located on the U.S. Geological Survey 7.5 minute Mack Quadrangle map within the <br />following sections. <br />Township 1 North, Range 3 West, Ute P.M. <br />Section 2: Portions of the SW /4, W /2SW /4SE /4 <br />Section 3: Portions of the SE /4 <br />Section 10: Portions of the N /2NE /4 <br />Section 11: Portions of the N /2NW /4, N /2NE /4, SE /4NE /4 <br />Containing 219.2 acres more or less <br />The proposed Fruita Loadout permit boundary contains 219.2 acres of land that is all located on <br />private surface. CAM - Colorado, LLC owns 215.6 acres, the Union Pacific Railroad owns 1.6 acres <br />and Fruita Development LLC owns 2.0 acres. The minerals within the proposed permit area are <br />owned by the respective private surface owners. <br />A copy of the permit application is available for public inspection at the Mesa County Clerk and <br />Recorder's office, 544 Rood Ave., Grand Junction, CO. A copy of the permit application document, <br />is available at the Denver and Grand Junction offices of the Division of Reclamation, Mining and <br />Safety [Room 215, 1313 Sherman St., Denver, CO 80203, (303) 866 -3567; and 101 South 3`d, Suite <br />301, Grand Junction, CO 81501, (970) 243 -1571] Written comments, objections or request for an <br />informal conference on the proposed permit may be submitted to the Division of Reclamation, <br />Mining and Safety, Denver or Grand Junction offices, and must be received by the Division within 30 <br />days after final publication of this notice.
