In order to make replacements for the
additional uses at the site, Lafarge has amended one of the original leases with the CRWCD.
Depletions
The water uses at the Gypsum Ranch Pit as described in Case No. 2002CW211 include
industrial uses for sand and gravel washing, dust control, concrete production, pond evaporation,
truck and equipment washing, and domestic uses. During the requested plan period, the depletions
that will be replaced by this SWSP are limited to additional water use for aggregate production and
dust control at the site. You have estimated the additional water use for aggregate production and
dust control to be approximately 20.9 acre -feet above the decreed volumes identified in the
augmentation plan in Case No. 2002CW211. The volume of depletions specified in Case No.
2002CW211 and the estimated volume of depletions for the additional water uses are summarized
in the table below:
The attached Table 1 provides a monthly breakdown of the depletions. The depletions
described in Case No. 2002CW211 total 37.5 acre -feet per year; the additional depletions for
aggregate production and dust control are estimated to be 7.36 acre -feet per year and 13.5 acre -
feet per year, respectively. The total additional water use replaced by this SWSP is 20.86 acre -
feet/year.
Replacements
The Gypsum Ranch Pit will continue to use the historical consumptive use credits from the
dry-up of historically irrigated lands under the C M Stremme and Gates Ditch during the irrigation
season, as decreed in Case No. 2002CW211. The dry-up credit from the C M Stremme and Gates
Ditch is 30.6 acre -feet from May through October. Augmentation water will also be provided from
CRWCD leases outlined in the decree in Case No. 2002CW211, which are for a total of 15.3 acre -
feet of reservoir releases from October through April. The Applicant holds Contract No. CW03004
for 3.0 acre -feet for replacement water on the Eagle River (Eagle Park Reservoir) and Contract No.
CW03001 for 12.3 acre -feet of replacement water on the Colorado River (Wolford Mountain
Reservoir).
In order to make replacements for the additional depletions, Lafarge has amended Contract
No. CW03001 to increase the total releases from 12.3 acre -feet per year to 30.6 acre -feet per year.
A copy of the amended contract with the CRWCD was provided to this office and is attached to this
letter. The CRWCD will make releases from Wolford Mountain Reservoir to make replacement for
the Gypsum Ranch Pit. Wolford Mountain Reservoir is located on the Muddy Creek drainage in
