Permittee Name:
Permit No:
Operation Name:
Anniversary bate:
Additional information
Lakewood Brick and Tile Co.
M- 1979 -045
Church Pit
02/28/2012
7. Total Disturbance 65.00 ac ±
Clay Approximately 37.80 acres is disturbed by the clay operation
in Stages 0, I and II. This included the old clay mined
area south of the ditches shown as the Clay Plant Site area
(dark blue) and the Clay Processing Plant area (purple).
Gravel Approximately 27.20 acres is disturbed, 12.75 acres is being
used as plant site area in Stage A (orange) and the remain-
ing 15.00 acres is stockpile area. Most of the material
processed at the plant site came from gravel mined this year
on the Rocky Flats Pit (M- 1987 -113). Some waste rock was
removed for use by the mineral owners from the pre -law
stockpile areas.
8. Clay No new area will be disturbed this year as we continue to
mine the area stripped in previous years. Mining will
continue in Stage I or Stage II by mining mine deeper into
the clay veins exposed in the past and advance the face to
the north as needed. Stripping will continue over the clay
deposit to expose additional clay in the area north of the
ditches. The stockpiled clay on the east side of Stage II
is being removed on a regular basis (tan). It is blended
with the clay from this mine at our brick plant in Lakewood.
Gravel Mining will continue to removed material between the Church
Pit and the Rocky Flats Pit as approved in the permit. No
sloping will be required as long the permit boundaries on
the east side of this mine.
9. No reclamation was required this year. The Pre -law stockpile areas
that were disturbed have been graded so only resoiling and seeding
will be needed when it is time for those areas to be seeded.
Stockpiles of growth medium are located along the west and south
sides of the permit area (pink).
11. No reclamation is called for during the next year. However,
backfilling may resume in the old clay pit area. The waste material
from gravel processing will be used to construct the south mine
slope from the original ground level to the pit floor. We will
continue to fill the north slope of the old clay pit (green) and
begin to do sloping on the east side of Stage A if the gravel
operator removes the overburden pile next to the face on that side.
If the opportunity to sell rock from the pre -law overburden piles
occur, that removal will continue as well.
12. Portions of the south section of the old clay mine have been
backfilled. The filled area is graded and used for working area in
the Clay and Gravel Plat site areas.
19. The approved bond amount is $319,000 and was revaluation in January
2011.
