Schwartzwalder Mine Permit Amendment Application
EXHIBIT J - Vegetation Information
This exhibit has not changed from the 1983 and 2001 Mine Plan Amendments with the exception of issues
related to the Preble's Meadow Jumping Mouse (PMJM). As a result of Technical Revision 18 (TR -18) to
the mine permit involving a temporary creek diversion project to convey Ralston Creek past the mine site,
more specific information concerning reseeding activities in association with mitigation of impacts to
PMJM habitat is incorporated into Exhibit J as follows. In August 2011, a Biological Assessment from
IRIS Mitigation and Design, Inc. was submitted to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), U.S. Fish
and Wildlife Service (USFWS), DRMS and other regulatory agencies as part of a Pre - construction
Notification report from Wright Water Engineers, Inc. A Section 404 Nationwide Permit No. 38 for the
project was approved by the USACE on November 25, 2011 based in part on a Biological Opinion from the
USFWS that critical habitat for the endangered PMJM will be adequately protected under project plans
outlined in the Pre - construction Notification. Information concerning reseeding mixes to be used for
restoration of areas impacted by TR -18 construction activities as contained in the above referenced
Biological Assessment is incorporated into Exhibit J by reference.
February 27, 2012 11
