Pineda <br />Director <br />The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, <br />Article 33, Section 118, Paragraph 3, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on February 28, 2012, <br />an application to renew an existing permit to conduct coal mining operations at the King Coal <br />Mine was considered complete for the purposes of filing. All review and comment periods as <br />provided in the Colorado Surface Mining Reclamation Act and the Rules initiate from this date of <br />filing. <br />GCC Energy, LLC proposes to continue underground coal mining and /or reclamation operations <br />on land located approximately 7 miles southwest of Hesperus, Colorado. The permit area is further <br />described as follows: <br />Portions of Sections 5 through 8, Township 34 North, Range 11 West; portions of Sections 28 <br />through 32, Township 35 North, Range 11 West; and portions of Sections 35 and 36 Township 35 <br />North, Range 12 West; New Mexico Principal Meridian. <br />The above - mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle maps of Hesperus, <br />Kline, Mormon Reservoir, and Thompson Park. <br />The operator requests renewal of the mining and reclamation permit.
