Pineda <br />Director <br />The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article <br />33, Section 118, Paragraph 3, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on February 28, 2012, an application to <br />renew an existing permit to conduct coal mining operations at the King Coal Mine was considered complete <br />for the purposes of filing. All review and comment periods as provided in the Colorado Surface Mining <br />Reclamation Act and the Rules initiate from this date of filing. <br />GCC Energy, LLC proposes to continue underground coal mining and/or reclamation operations on land <br />located approximately 7 miles southwest of Hesperus, Colorado. The permit area is further described as <br />follows: Portions of Sections 5 through 8, Township 34 North, Range 11 West; portions of Sections 28 <br />through 32, Township 35 North, Range 11 West; and portions of Sections 35 and 36 Township 35 North, <br />Range 12 West; New Mexico Principal Meridian. The above- mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS <br />7.5 minute Quadrangle maps of Hesperus, Kline, Mormon Reservoir, and Thompson Park. <br />No additional surface disturbance is proposed as a result of this revision application. As a result, the <br />Division does not anticipate additional impacts to wildlife. <br />The applicant is required to publish notice in the The Durango Herald that this permit renewal application <br />has been deemed complete. At the time of publication of this notice, the applicant is additionally required to <br />place a copy of this application at the La Plata County Clerk and Recorder, 98 Everett St., Suite C, Durango, <br />CO 8 13 03, and at the Division office.
