Pineda Director The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 118, Paragraph 3, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on February 28, 2012, an application to renew an existing permit to conduct coal mining operations at the King Coal Mine was considered complete for the purposes of filing. All review and comment periods as provided in the Colorado Surface Mining Reclamation Act and the Rules initiate from this date of filing. GCC Energy, LLC proposes to continue underground coal mining and/or reclamation operations on land located approximately 7 miles southwest of Hesperus, Colorado. The permit area is further described as follows: Portions of Sections 5 through 8, Township 34 North, Range 11 West; portions of Sections 28 through 32, Township 35 North, Range 11 West; and portions of Sections 35 and 36 Township 35 North, Range 12 West; New Mexico Principal Meridian. The above- mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle maps of Hesperus, Kline, Mormon Reservoir, and Thompson Park. No additional surface disturbance is proposed as a result of this revision application. As a result, the Division does not anticipate additional impacts to wildlife. The applicant is required to publish notice in the The Durango Herald that this permit renewal application has been deemed complete. At the time of publication of this notice, the applicant is additionally required to place a copy of this application at the La Plata County Clerk and Recorder, 98 Everett St., Suite C, Durango, CO 8 13 03, and at the Division office.
