Pineda <br />Director <br />The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article <br />33, Section 118, Paragraph 3, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on February 28, 2012, an application to <br />renew an existing permit to conduct coal mining operations at the King Coal Mine was considered complete <br />for the purposes of filing. All review and comment periods as provided in the Colorado Surface Mining <br />Reclamation Act and the Rules initiate from this date of filing. <br />GCC Energy, LLC proposes to continue underground coal mining and/or reclamation operations on land <br />located approximately 7 miles southwest of Hesperus, Colorado. The permit area is further described as <br />follows: <br />Portions of Sections 5 through 8, Township 34 North, Range 11 West; portions of Sections 28 through 32, <br />Township 35 North, Range 11 West; and portions of Sections 35 and 36 Township 35 North, Range 12 <br />West; New Mexico Principal Meridian. <br />The above- mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map of Hesperus, Kline, <br />Mormon Reservoir, and Thompson Park. <br />The operator requests renewal of the mining and reclamation permit. No increase to mined area or surface <br />area is proposed. <br />A copy of the renewal application is available for public inspection at the La Plata County Clerk and <br />Recorder, 98 Everett St., Suite C, Durango, CO 81303, and at the Division office.
