Corley Company
2605 Constellation Drive
Colorado Springs, 80906
Dear Dr. Corley,
I- Wm0ciF
Thank you for your December 5, 2011, email response to our letter dated December 2, 2011.
The Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement's position remains that the Division
of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety (DBMS) has exhausted its reclamation obligations at the
GEC bond forfeiture site. DRMS has made the requisite efforts to complete as much reclamation
as possible with limited funds due to the bond forfeiture and subsequent bankruptcy of GEC
Minerals, Inc.
Any concerns brought forth by you or adjacent landowners regarding the possibility that
sediment leaving the GEC bond forfeiture site contains mercury should be brought to the
attention of DRMS as they are the Regulatory Authority.
If you have any questions regarding this letter, please contact me at (303) 293 -5012, or
kwalker @osrnre.gov.
%>Iii VA
LM
Kenneth Walker, Chief
Denver Field Division
