Pineda <br />Director <br />The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, <br />Article 33, Section 116, Paragraph 4, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on February 17, 2012 <br />an application to revise coal mining operations at the Bowie No. 2 Mine was considered complete <br />for the purposes of filing. The revision was submitted by Bowie Resources, LLC. All review and <br />comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations initiate from this date of filing. <br />J. E. Stover and Associates, on behalf of Bowie Resources, LLC, is proposing to expand Coal <br />Mine Waste Pile #2. The existing hillside slope to the west of the waste pile will be increased to <br />1.5h:1v slope, the West Diversion Ditch #2 will be relocated to the toe of the slope and the waste <br />pile will expand to fill in the void created by the steeper slope. The disturbed area will increase by <br />1.8 acres for an addition storage capacity of 65,000 cy. All proposed disturbances are within the <br />present permitted boundary and on land owned by Bowie Resources, LLC. <br />The Underground coal mining operation is on land located approximately 5 miles Northeast of <br />Paonia, Colorado. The permit area is further described as follows: <br />Portions of Sections 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, 10, 11, 14, 15, 16, and 22, Township 13 South, Range 91 West <br />of the 6th P.M. Portions of Sections 33 and 34, Township 12 South, Range 91 West of the 6th P.M. <br />The applicant is required to publish notice in a local newspaper that this application has been <br />deemed complete.
