Red Rock Pit, Permit No. M- 1978 -315
112 Permit Conversion Application
Response to Adequacy Comments
Page 3
The application proposes to leave steep final slopes, up to 1 H:1 V. Please submit a
Geotechnical Stability Exhibit in order to address concerns over the potential for
instability of the steep reclaimed slopes.
Response: a report titled "Geologic Hazard Evaluation and Slope Stability Analysis,
Red Rock Pit ", prepared by Northwest Colorado Consultants, Inc. (NWCC), a reputable
geotechnical consulting firm, is attached.
In summary, "NWCC does not believe there are hazardous geologic conditions that
would render the proposed quarry activities unfeasible as currently planned. Minor
intermittent rockfall and erosion of the exposed bedrock materials associated with the
proposed cut slopes should be anticipated."
Please contact me (Scott Cowman) at (970) 276 -7003 if there are any further questions or
concerns.
Sincerely,
B.
