Acres Seeded /Planted for the Last 10 Years or more
The total number of acres seeded or planted and not released from Phase III bond within
the NH1 and NH2 permit areas is 506.52.
Grazing on NH1 and NH2 AREAS
Grazing operations on NH1 —
Garvey Brothers grazed both dryland and irrigated pasture in the NH1 area.
Approximately 350 head were present on approximately 71 acre parcel from November
25, 2010 to February 1, 2011.
Grazing operations on NH2 —
Ward Burbridge has grazing operations on two areas of the permit and has maintained
approximately 20 head of bovine. This year's operations started approximately
November 19, 2011 on the Benson east area and continued there for approximately 3
weeks on 59 acres. Operations progressed to Benson south, Goforth, San Miguel, and
Burbuidge properties with a total of 152 acres. Mr. Brubridge stated that he started
supplementing his herd with grass hay around December 1, 2010 and will continue the
operation until May 1, 2011.
Staats Family grazing operations consist of properties south of 5 Avenue that are
owned by Western Fuels Colorado, Staats Family, and San Miguel Power.
Approximately 210 head of bovine were present from February 1 through the March 5th
of 2011. The 210 bovine were allowed to pasture on a combination of 120 acres; 84
acres off Permit and 36 acres are the previously mentioned, on Permit, WFC, Staats,
and SMP owned properties. That brakes down to approximately .058 bovine per acre.
Therefore, 36 acres multiplied by 0.58 equals approximately 21 bovine within the
Permit area in that time. Approximately 15 head were left there for calving operations
and were moved out March 15, 2011.
The reference area was winter grazed starting September 1, 2010 and ending
November 26, 2010. 3 -7 horses occupied approximately 7.8 acres. In place of a
second cutting WFC opted to have it grazed. Six Horses grazed from October 26
through December 9, 2011.
The above referenced areas are depicted in Exhibits 2011 -3 (NH1) and 2011 -15 (NH2).
A total of 247 acres were grazed on the NH2 Permit area. An unknown quantity of deer
and elk have frequented the area throughout the year browsing, grazing, and bedding
down when not being hunted in the later seasons; December 2011 - February 2011.
F: \Eng \DATA \Word \Ann Reclaim Report \2011 \2011RECRPT.doc
5
