overlies a clay subsoil and substratum. This soil has a deeper profile than Abor, has a lighter colored <br />surface horizon than Morapos, and lacks a sodic clay accumulation zone like Spicercon variant. <br />The recommended topsoil salvage depth is based exclusively on the thickness of the surface A horizon <br />since subsurface clay levels are unsuitable. The clay content at the surface is alleviated by a friable <br />consistence, a moderate saturation percentage, and a higher organic master content. Topsoil salvage <br />should be terminated at the top of the cambic IBwI horizon. The mean in situ suitable topsoil depth for <br />four profiles is eleven inches (Appendix 9-61. <br />The 10B, 10C, and 10D map units consist of 85 percent Bulkley with 6 percent each of Abor and <br />Spicerton variant, and 3 percent Morapos inclusions (Appendix 9-2, Table 1). A 1.0-foot mean salvage <br />depth was used for these map units to calculate recoverable topsoil volumes listed in Table 21-1 and <br />Exhibit 9.2. <br />11C, 11D-Binco Clay Loam. The Binco clay loam map units occur on the strongly sloping to <br />moderately steep cottuvial fans, sideslopes, and toeslopes. The soil profile is deep with a thin light <br />colored surface horizon which overlies a clay subsoil and substratum. Adjacent Aaberg and Aaberg <br />variant soils have moderately deep and shallow profiles, respectively. Buckskin soils have dark colored <br />surface horizon and subsoil clay accumulation. <br />The recommended topsoil salvage depth is based on the thickness of the surface horizon since <br />subsurface clay levels are unsuitable. Topsoil salvage should be terminated near the top of the cambic <br />fecal horizon. The mean in situ suitable topsoil depth for 12 profiles is 5 inches (Appendix 9-61. <br />The 11C and 11D map units consist of 85 percent Binco with 7 percent Aaberg, 5 percent Buckskin, <br />and 3 portent Aaberg variant inclusions (Appendix 9-2, Table 11• A 0.5-foot mean salvage depth was <br />used for these map units to calculate recoverable topsoil volumes listed in Table 21-1 and Exhibit 9-1. <br />12C, 12D, 12E-Buckskin Loam.
