Work to date
Preliminary surveys haw been conducted to aid in the hydraulic design of the channel. Due to river
levels it was not possible for extensive surveys. When river levels rise and a boat can be used, the
surveys will be completed.
Pebble counts were conducted to determine the D84 size used in the determination of Manning's n.
Calculations indicate an n value of 0.038 at the Section 4 cross section of 0.038, consistent with 0.04
reported by Ward and Elliot (Environmental Hydrology 1995) for cobble bottomed mountain rivers.
Bank -full flow was determined to be 12,700cfs based on gage data and a 1.5 year reoccurrence interval.
Gage data, pebble counts, and reoccurrence intervals used to design the proposed channel are
presented in the following pages.
Additional analysis will continue during construction and presented in a summary report to the USACOE
after the projec` S completed.
35000
30000
25000
20000
15000
10000
5000
0
1
Reoccur ence Interval for Peak Flows based on
Glenwood Sprs.
