Detailed results of the Hubberson • <br />Gulch soil survey have been added to the tent, tables, and various appendices of Tati g. The <br />general results are also summarized in the Alluvial Soils Section of Results/Discussion. <br />The detailed soil surveys enabled roil suitability ratings to be generated by soil horizon for each <br />mapped soil series, series variant, and soil family. Recommended topsoil salvage depths were <br />determined for each soil series, series variant, soil family, subgroup, great group, and soil map <br />unit. <br />This report addresses the objectives, methods, and results of the six soil surveys. All soil <br />investigations were conducted in accordance with DMG rules end regulations with su F~Porting <br />consultation. <br />Objectives <br />The objectives of the field investigations were to map and sample the soils of the study area in <br />sufficient detail to characterize their physical and chemical properties and depths to which they <br />may be salvaged as a source of ic~psoil for reclamation. The site-specific characteristics of the <br />soil, including hydrologic properties and those features that may influence soil :salvage, <br />stockpiling, and redistribution were inventoried. This inventory entailed the following: • <br />• Determination and delineation of soil series, series variant, subgroup, great group, and <br />soil map units. <br />• Description and sampling of representative horizons of each soil series, series variant, <br />and higher taxonomic units within the projected disturbance area for chemical and <br />physical characteristics. <br />• Interpretation of the analytical results and site-specific characteristics to determine <br />suitability and depth of soils for topsoil materials. <br />• Interpretation of the analytical results and site-specific characteristics to determine <br />hydrologic properties used to design sediment ponds and channels or estimate runoff. <br />This report presents all field and laboratory methodology used in the study as well as: <br />• Soil maps delineating ell soil map units. <br />• Map unit descriptions. <br />CJ <br />2 Revised 9/98 <br />
