OBSERVATIONS
PERMIT #: M -1990 -131
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: BMK
INSPECTION DATE: February 1, 2012
1) The Division conducted a monitoring inspection of the site on 2- 1- 12.The site is a 6.80 acre sand and
gravel operation located in Adams County approximately 1/2 mile east of Bennett Colorado. The site is
immediately adjacent to another 100 sand and gravel operation (M- 1987 -023) operated by the same
operator. Present during the inspection was Mr. Ricky Michele, the operator.
2) The site was not active at the time of the inspection. However there was evidence of fresh cut along
south east side of the permit area. Also noted was some small processed stockpile along the north east
side of pit.
3) The entire permit area was walked and inspected. Permit boundary markers were properly displayed.
The permit sign was posted at the access to the property. The only concern noted during the
inspection in 2007 was the lack of a permit sign in accordance with Rule 3.1.12. There was no noxious
weed infestation noted at the time of the inspection.
4) Kiowa Creek which is an ephemeral stream runs along the east side of the permit. An adequate berm is
in place along the east side of the permit area. All the drainage from the pit is captured with in the
affected area. The current financial warranty for the site of $5,000.00 is deemed adequate at this time.
The post mining land use is pasture land.
