OBSERVATIONS
This inspection is part of the normal monitoring program established by the Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining,
and Safety (Division). The Lindsey Canyon LLC Gravel Pit is a 110c permitted site located south of CR 90, just past
Popular Road in Montrose County. No representative for the permittee accompanied the inspector on site.
The mine identification sign is in place and in compliance with Rule 3.1.12. The sign is located at the entrance to the
site. Permit boundaries were noted as fencing along the west perimeter. Some t -posts were noted along the east and
south. Documentation shows t -post placed after the last inspection in 2005. The inspector was able to determine
permit boundaries based on information in the record and on site visuals. Some disturbances appear to be close to the
permit boundaries. Please note any disturbances outside the permit boundary would be a violation and would require
costly corrective actions and civil penalties. It is in the permitee's best interest to maintain the markers on a regular
basis to prevent off -site disturbances. The issue does not rise to the level of a problem at this time, but could during
future inspections.
The site shows recent activities. An excavator and old dozer were noted on site. Indications of recent disturbances were
observed. As shown in the attached pictures the excavator has been digging in the center of the pit and several areas
were noted as having been pushed with the dozer. There is approximately 5 acres of disturbance throughout the area
which is close to the maximum allowed.
No fuel storage issues were observed. No on -site mining related debris was documented. The inspector notes piles of
tires along the road into the site. These are outside the permit boundaries; appear to have been there for some time
and not an issue for the Division.
The Annual Report submitted on 10/03/2011 reflects current site disturbances and activities.
The inspector observed no problems or violations at this time.
Inspection Contact Address
Lindsey Canyon, LLC
11554 64.50 Road
Montrose, CO 81401
PERMIT #: M- 2000 -072
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: GRM
INSPECTION DATE: January 19, 2012
The financial warranty was last updated in 2005.
