RE• Sample /test plan proposal
Follow Up Flag: Follow up
Flag Status: Flagged
Dustin: As we discussed on the phone, the coal waste samples will be augered from as many locations as necessary to
determine where the worst waste is located. I recommend that you, Ben Langenfeld from my office and Steve Baker
together decide where all auger holes be placed to identify the most concentrated waste and Ben will take samples of
this waste and take Chain of Custody and deliver the samples to the lab directly. The depths of the holes will be
determined by you three as the holes are augered. The 2 piezometers will have been installed before the site visit and
they will be sampled by Ben in your presence during the site visit. The piezometers holes will be installed to a depth of
approximately 4 -5 feet below the groundwater level.
The site visit is scheduled for 8 AM on Thursday Feb 2. Thanks. This issue is a priority, so once we
have finalized a sampling plan, I will make myself available to be present on site during the sampling.
Thank you,
Dustin Czapla
Environmental Protection Specialist
Department of Natural Resources
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
101 South 3 Suite 301
Grand Junction, CO 81501
Phone: (970) 243 -6299
Fax: (970) 241 -1516
1
rA -6
fE
CJ-
