Additional design information including detail drawings and specifications for the
installation of the PVC geomembrane ore pad liner systems at the Sunday Mines
Group is provided in Attachment S.
6.1.2 Evaluation of the Proposed Environmental Protection Facilities
The proposed EPFs will incorporate necessary control systems (i.e. berms and
geomembrane liner) to contain surface water run -off for the 100 -year, 24 -hour storm
event. Stormwater run -on will be diverted around the ore storage pad areas by the
perimeter berms.
The EPFs will be inspected and maintained as described in Section 5 and 6 of the
SWMP, included as Attachment F. All necessary protective measures will be kept in
effective operating condition. Any EPFs that are not adequately maintained in
accordance with good engineering, hydrologic, and pollution control practices are
considered to be no longer operating effectively and will be modified or replaced.
As outlined in the SWMP, if a spill of pollutants threatens stormwater at the site, the
spill response procedures outlined below will be implemented in a timely manner:
• The Mine General Superintendent will be notified immediately when a spill,
or the threat of a spill, is observed. The superintendent will assess the situation
and determine the appropriate response.
• If spills represent an imminent threat of escaping erosion and sediment control
facilities and entering the receiving waters, facility personnel will respond
immediately to contain the release and notify the superintendent after the
situation has been stabilized.
• The Mine General Superintendent, or his /her designee, will be responsible for
completing the spill reporting form and for reporting the spill to the
appropriate state or local agency.
C \Users\cwoodward\Desktop \Sundays \FINAL - Environmental Protection Plan Sunday Mines Revised January 2012 docx
6 -2
