This inspection was conducted by Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety (Division) <br />inspectors, Dustin Czapla and Wallace Erickson, in response to a citizen complaint received, via <br />email, from Phil Vigil on November 28, 2011. Mr. Vigil expressed concerns that the Operator <br />was not operating in compliance with the conditions of their reclamation permit. Gary <br />Gibbons, representing the Operator, was present during this inspection. Photographs are <br />included at the end of this report in order to illustrate some of the conditions observed during <br />this inspection. <br />The May Day Idaho Mine complex is located approximately 12 miles northwest of Durango and <br />accessed from CR 124. The site is a 112d -1 operation that includes a total of 274.7 permitted <br />acres. The Division currently holds a financial warranty amount of $204,562.00 for this site. <br />New Access road <br />Evidence of recent activity was not observed. <br />Idaho Affected Area <br />Evidence of recent cleanup efforts was observed in this area. Evidence of recent mining activity <br />was not observed. <br />May Day No. 2 Affected Area <br />Evidence of recent activity was not observed. <br />OBSERVATIONS <br />PERMIT #: M -1981 -185 <br />INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: DMC <br />INSPECTION DATE: November 30, 2011 <br />May Day No. 1 Affected Area <br />Evidence of recent cleanup efforts was observed in this area.
