The required fee of $257 for the renewal of this SWSP has been submitted (receipt
no. 3652416). The original SWSP was approved on February 12, 1992 and it was most recently
approved in a letter dated November 23, 2010.
SWSP Operations and Depletions
The Greeley 35 Avenue Pit is located in Sections 34 and 35, Township 6 North, Range
66 West of the 6 P.M. Lafarge West Inc. ( "Lafarge ") was the operator of this gravel pit and
was the original applicant for this SWSP renewal. Martin Marietta Materials ( "Marietta ")
purchased this pit from Lafarge in November 2011 and are assuming all augmentation
responsibilities including depletions resulting from past mining operations. The depletions that
result from the mining operation at the Greeley 35 Avenue Pit are evaporation from exposed
surface area, water lost in mined product, dust control and water used in concrete production.
Marietta will replace all depletions during the period of this SWSP, using the Lafarge lease with
the City of Greeley which Marietta acquired as a part of their November 2011 acquisition.
The total exposed groundwater area at this site is 74.8 acres, of which 26.3 acres are
considered post -1981 and require augmentation for its evaporation. According to the
information from the previous plan, a total of 52 acres of groundwater was exposed within the
Greeley 35 Avenue Pit reclamation permit boundary prior to January 1, 1981. Of the pre -1981
exposed areas, 3.5 acres are currently being dewatered and are not included in the 74.8 total
acres of exposed groundwater at this site. The area exposed prior to 1981 is shown on the
attached map. The credits for the pre -1981 area are tied to the location identified on the
map and may not be re- allocated to other areas of ground water exposure within the
