Encountered, indicates the principle composition of the seed mix used in reseeding.
Other species observed included squirreltail, western wheatgrass and native and
Kentucky bluegrass. Numerous weedy species including gumweed, thistle (Cirsium
species) and knotweed (Polygonum sp.) were present. Livestock grazing has been heavy
in this type.
DHG — Revegetated Hayden Gulch Disturbances. All revegetated disturbances
associated with construction of the loadout facility, rail loop and rail spur (70.8 acres) are
included in this type. The loadout facilities and access road to the southwest are not
included. With the exception of the railroad ballast, all areas have been revegetated with
a permanent stabilization mix. Species observed in the revegetated areas include
intermediate wheatgrass, Russian wildrye (Elymus junceus), crested wheatgrass, western
wheatgrass, slender wheatgrass, timothy, alfalfa (Medicago sativa) and yellow
sweetclover (Melitotus officinale). Weedy species common in the reseeded cropland
areas are also present in the revegetated areas. This type has also been heavily grazed.
FHG — Hayden Gulch Loadout Facilities. All loadout facilities and access roads,
excluding the rail loop and spur, are included in this area (17.8 acres). Areas not under
roads, structures or stockpiles have been seeded with a temporary stabilization seed mix
similar to that used in the DHG type.
TS — Topsoil Stockpiles 1 -3. Two topsoil stockpiles are located within the rail loop and
one is located along the access road southwest of the loadout area. Another six topsoil
stockpiles are located along the haul road corridor. All stockpiles have been seeded with
a mix similar to that used in the DHG type. The stockpiles are stable and have no
erosional problems.
Tie - Across Haul Road Corridor. This haul road corridor was transferred from Seneca II-
W permit to the Hayden Gulch Loadout permit in 2011. The total area included in the
corridor is 213.5 acres. The vegetation communities within the haul road corridor and
associated acres are as follows:
Veg Type Acres % of Area
• Existing roads 3.0 ac 1.4%
• Water or Ponds 0.1 ac 0.1%
• Disturbed land 7.0 ac 3.3%
• Low sagebrush 40.4 ac 18.8%
• Wheat Cropland 124.2 ac 57.9%
• Meadow 14.1 ac 6.6%
• Greasewood 11.3 ac 5.3%
• Mtn. Big Sagebrush 4.6 ac 2.1%
• Disturbed Meadow 7.6 ac 3.5%
• Disturbed riparian 2.2 ac 1.0%
Other Cate ones. Remaining portions of the permit area include sediment ponds (PS -1.2
acres), County and U.S. roads (RD —1.2 acres) and the Walker Ditch.
PR -01 5 Revised 07/11
