To: Gary Tuttle
Subject: M- 1986 -015 Pueblo East Pit, AM -04 Pumping Cost
Gary,
Happy New Year!
I've started reviewing the reclamation costs for AM -04 (now that I've been trained on CIRCES). While looking at the
pumping task to transfer silt /fines from the wash ponds to the Phase 7 area, I noticed what appears to be a discrepancy,
or my lack of understanding of the task. I've attached the CIRCES work sheet if it helps. If I understand Table L -3
correctly, 76,849 CY of solids are to be pumped (18,100 CY in Item 4, 16,749 CY in Item 5 or 6 & 42,000 CY in Item 7). If I
assume 20% solids in the pumped slurry, the pumped volume is 5 times the solids volume or 384,245 CY (water + solids),
which requires 307,396 CY (OR 190 AC -FT) of water. If I'm not missing something in your cost estimate, I have 2
questions:
Thanks.
1) Where are you getting the 190 AC -FT of water & how will it be delivered to the pond(s)?
2) It doesn't appear that the cost reflects the entire solids + water pumping volume. Can you clarify that?
Tim Cazier, P.E.
Environmental Protection Specialist
Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
ph: 303 - 866 -3567 x8169
fax: 303-832-8106
tim.cazier
2
