No problems or possible violations were observed during the inspection.
PERMIT #: M -1980 -047
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: THM
INSPECTION DATE: December 16, 2011
OBSERVATIONS
This inspection was conducted as part of the normal monitoring program established by the Colorado Division
of Reclamation, Mining and Safety (DRMS).
This was a partial inspection with the primary focus to observe the tracer test being conducted during the
inspection. No other components of the mine were inspected on December 16, 2011.
The tracer test was conducted from inside of the mine by gravity feeding tracer water into the wells that are
located inside of the mine. The tracer observed was contained in a 1,650 gallon tank that gravity fed water into
the well located in the decline of the mine. The purpose of the tracer test was to characterize the rate at which
water in the B- groove aquifer travels. The operator had continuous water monitoring equipment installed in
down - gradient monitoring wells. The tracer was also observed in the mine drain (see photograph on following
page).
Also observed in the mine were the proposed borehole locations for the grout containment feature that is
proposed to be installed below EF -1. The commencement of installing the grout feature is January 2012.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Travis Marshall at the Division of Reclamation,
Mining and Safety, Grand Junction Field Office, 101 South 3 Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado
81501, phone no.
