Temperatures were unseasonably mild ( -45 degrees
F), and skies were clear. Snow accumulations for the area are below average. I reported to the
scale house at King II at 11:30 a.m. Jim Jarvis directed me to Tom Bird's office, where the
mine's permitting records are stored and maintained. Following the records review, Mr. Jarvis
and I inspected the King II facilities on foot. This area, which is generally south - facing, was
almost clear of snow, although the ground is still damp or muddy in places. When this portion of
the inspection was complete, I drove to the King I site. The road at King I was cleared only as
far as the bath house. Snow cover prevented access to the refuse pile.
AVAILABILITY OF RECORDS — Rule 5.02.4(1):
• Permitting records were available for examination in Tom Bird's office, located at the King
II site.
