The weather was clear and the ground was partially
covered with snow.
HYDROLOGIC BALANCE - Rule 4.05 Drainage Control 4.05.1, 4.05.2, 4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5,
4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7, 4.05.10; Diversions 4.05.4; Effluent Limits 4.05.2; Ground Water
Monitoring 4.05.13; Surface Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Drainage — Acid and Toxic Materials 4.05.8;
Impoundments 4.05.6, 4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18:
At the loadout, the pond has been filled. The ditch along the southwest boundary- still drains to the former pond
area. There was no sign of erosion at or near the pond area or flow from the ditch over the embankment (the old
railroad bed). At the time of the inspection no water was flowing from the pond area; the weather was too cold for
thawing.
Silt fence and straw wattles were in place were the former pond area drains (the northwest corner). These best
management practices (BMPs) for sediment control need to be improved. They were installed with stakes on the
uphill side, which is a mistake, and they need to extend further up the bank to the south.
GENERAL MINE PLAN COMPLANCE:
The mine was found to be in general compliance with the pen
ROADS — Rule 4.03 Construction 4.03.1(3)/4.03.2(3) Drainage 4.03.1(4)/4.03.2(4) Surfacing and
Maintenance4.03.1(5) and (6)/4.03.2(5) and (6) Reclamation 4.03.1(7)/4.03.2(7):
No problems were observed with roads or culverts.
RECLAMATION SUCCESS - Rule 4.15, Rule 3:
The parcels at the mine site and the loadout appeared to be in good condition as no erosion, large weed patches, or
large bare areas were observed.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 4
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 2
Page 2 of 7
