Section - 2.05.3
By early 2009 it is expected the Hubbard Creek Fan will be shutdown and an additional
new fansite will need to be constructed along Bear Creek. This fansite, referred to as the
Bear Creek Fansite, consists of a fan, ducting, pre-engineered fan structure and
enclosure, motor and controls (all formerly used and moved from the Sanborn Creek
Mine) and located on a concrete slab foundation. Development material from excavation
of the facility pad will form the approximate 2 acre pad area. The material from the 16'
diameter x 620' raise bore steel plate lined shaft will be stored in the mine workings.
Topsoil recovered from the disturbance area will be stockpiled south of the fansite pad.
The ephemeral Bear Creek is to be placed in a 450' x 6' CMP culvert.(see ACOE NWP-
50 SPK-2008-1035 CW in Exhibit 2.03-E4, Other Pernuts for additional details). The
substation is installed on concrete ties, and fed by a 46 KV power line spur from the line
that feeds the Hubbard Creek facilities. The pad could contain up to 3 - 6" x 620' utility
boreholes and will be protected with portable chainlink fencing to reduce vandalism
from travelers on the adjacent "public" Bear Creek ranch road. Sediment control for the
small area is handled as a small area exemption using such alternate sediment control
techniques of sediment traps, straw bales, and wattles, silt fence, rock protection,
vegetation filters, etc.
TR-60 2.05-22b Rev. Nov. 2008
