It would
be helpful to forward the list to us before our meeting if possible.
Could you please email me /us the Portal Report Reference Area revision that you sent to Linda and
Paula in May? I can't seem to find it on line.
Could you please also email me /us the Minor Revision 41 of the Reclamation Plan, dated December
2001?
In order for our meeting to be as efficient and effective as possible, here are some of the
questions that I would really appreciate having answers to when we meet on Monday:
Hydrology questions:
I know that the hydrology specialist can't meet with us on Monday, but can you ask
him /her to explain why the 2009 and 2010 hydrology reports do not include testing for iron and
manganese on Newlin Creek when there had been readings in the past for these? Also there are
not readings for iron and manganese on Oak Creek? Are these samples still available at ACZ
Laboratories?
Well 16 does not seem to have any data for 2009 and 2010 so it seems that only Well 23
is providing data for our 400 acres. In 2008 both wells 16 and 23 exceed Secondary
Drinking Water Standards for dissolved iron with Well 16 also exceeding sulfate levels.
Well 23 also exceeds manganese standards. This concerns us since it is not the only
year they have exceeded the standards. How does the Division plan to mitigate this so
that the quality of water standards are met?
Also, we are concerned that the City of Florence water line and Newlin Creek are very
close to Well 23. Has there been any testing of wells in close proximity to our property?
According to TR 35, it seems that the surface water and wells are to be tested semi-
annually, in June and December. Could you explain why those months were selected and
can they be changed to other months not necessarily six months apart?
According to the original Compliance report in 1984, the Thompson's well would be tested
regularly. I have never seen any mention except that there was a "break through" but
that it seemed it was reconstructed. I'd like the data since it seems the refuse pile would
drain into the ground water for them.
I have not been able to reference any information about our concern that the mine could
be filling with water. How could it be verified if this is or is not happening? If the mine
