December 30, 2011
Pete Milonas
Colo. Board of Land Commissioners
Denver, CO 80203
RE: Copy of 2011 404 Permit annual report for Coal Creek - Lowry Range
Dear Pete:
Here is a copy of the annual report provided to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. A copy of this report is required
as a part of the lease requirements for Schmidt Construction Company. It is starting to look like this 404 project is
drawing to a close as the growth is reaching the required characteristics in the last two exclosures and the youngest
vegetation. It has been suggested to the Corps that the sampling be discontinued, but photographic documentation
perhaps continued. It was also recommend that in 2012 a repeat of the 2005 full stream corridor photographic
documentation be repeated. That might also be useful for you as a way to document the condition of the stream
corridor prior to more extensive oil and gas development and also to just keep up with what is happening all along
the 6 miles from Quincy to the county line. My impression is that the entire corridor has improved immensely, but it
might be good to document that and see if there are any areas where problems might be developing. You should
have a copy of the 2005 stream corridor survey I did, but if it is repeated in 2012 it will be a comparative study so
both positive and negative changes can be easily identified. If I recall I spent about a day and a half photographing
the corridor along the entire length. The new survey would repeat that from the same viewpoints originally used.
If you have any questions, please call.
Mark A.
