Material Processing and Associated Facilities
Material processing will be re- located from the existing Fountain Pit location to the amendment
area. Due to the relatively small size, portable processing equipment will be used during mining
of the amendment area. The processing facility, potentially consisting of conveyors, screens,
washers, and crushers, will be placed in the bottom of the amendment area mine pit as soon as
possible. a portable mine office and scale will also be located in the amendment area. The
below grade operation of the processing facility will help minimize visual, noise, and dust
impacts from the facility. Pit run material will be hauled to the processing plant and most raw
material and product stockpiles will also remain below grade. An employee /storage trailer,
fueling/lubricating station, and generators will also be located on -site as needed.
Commodities to be Mined and Intended Use
Construction materials, primarily sand and gravel, are the commodities to be mined from the
amendment area. No significant secondary commodities are anticipated. The deposits in the
proposed amendment area are favored for extraction and use as paving, road base, and other
construction materials.
Use of Explosives
Since the material is unconsolidated alluvium, no explosives or blasting is required.
Fountain Pit M- 1982 -155
DRMS 112 Permit Amendment
Revised in Response to Adequacy Review Comments Page 10
