3.0 RESULTS
3.1 Phase III Summary (Years 1 & 2)
Tabular results of collected (and transformed) data for the aforementioned sampling efforts are
presented at the rear of this document (Appendix A) on Tables 1 through 26. Tables 1, 2, and 3 present
summarized data whereas Tables 4 — 13 present raw cover data, Tables 14 - 23 present raw production
data, and Tables 24 and 25 present raw woody plant density data. Table 26 presents a listing of all plant
species encountered during the two years of survey. Charts 1, 2, and 3 (below) present summaries of
collected data as well as comparison of Hamilton Mine parameters with reference area derived criteria
and standards. Chart 1 (ground cover) indicates a substantial exceedance for Mine Area No. 1 (151%
and 192% of the reference area derived criterion for 2010 and 2011, respectively) and a more modest
exceedance for Mine Area No. 3 (120% and 140% of the reference area derived criterion for 2010 and
2011, respectively). Chart 2 (production) also indicates a substantial exceedance for both Mine Areas
with regard to perennial production. Mine Area No. 1 exhibits 395% and 261% of the reference area
derived success criterion in 2010 and 2011, respectively, whereas Mine Area No. 3 exhibits 265% and
165% of the criterion in 2010 and 2011, respectively. Chart 3 (diversity) indicates that both Mine Areas
No. 1 and No. 3 each exceed the diversity standards set in permitting documents in both 2010 and 2011.
3.2 Ground Cover Findinas — Reclaimed Areas
A total of 29 plant species were of sufficient distribution to be detected by ground cover sampling
within Mine Area No. 1 and No. 3, and consisted of 11 grasses, 13 forbs, 2 sub - shrubs, and 3 shrubs /
cacti. An additional 17 taxa (comprised of 2 grasses, 12 forbs, and 3 shrubs) were observed as incidental
within the reclamation. By comparison, only 9 grasses, 9 forbs, 1 sub - shrub, and 3 shrubs / cacti were
detected by sampling efforts within the 3 reference areas (total of 22 taxa). The incidental taxa observed
within the reclamation include:
Colorado Four O'clock (Mirabi /is mu/tif/ora)
Fernleaf Biscuitroot (Lomatium dissectum)
Green Needlegrass (Stipa viridula)
Lambsquarters (Chenopodium album)
M i l kvetch (Astragalus sp.)
Prickly Lettuce (Lactuca serriola)
Rabbitbrush (Chyrsothamnus nauseosus)
Rocky Mtn. Penstemon ( Penstemon strictus)
Smooth Four O'clock (Mirabi /is glabra)
CEDAR CREEK ASSOCIATES, Inc. Page 10
Desert Wheatgrass (Agropyron desertorum)
Field Bindweed (Convo /vu /us arvensis)
Horehound (Marrubium vulgare)
Longleaf Phlox (Ph /ox long /fol /a)
Pale Agoseris (Agoseris glauca)
Prickly - Pear (Opuntia polyacantha)
Rocky Mtn. Juniper (Juniperus scopu /orum)
Salsify ( Tragopogon dub /us)
Hamilton Mine - 2011
Phase III Bond Release Evaluation
