December 16, 2011
Ms. Stephanie Reigh
Environmental Protection Specialist
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
1313 Sherman St., Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
Re: Technical Revision to Permit # M- 1977 -572 Lamar East
Dear Ms. Reigh:
Enclosed is Valco, Inc.'s Flood Mitigation and Reclamation Grading Design Report for the
referenced permit. The Report was prepared by Anderson Consulting Engineers.
Valco, Inc has decided to discontinue operations at this location. It was determined that over the
course of the last 50+ years that mining has occurred on the property there were some issues with
the flood plain. We initiated an engineering project that would create a final reclamation plan
consistent with the original permit intent.
Also enclosed are copies of emails from the NRCS office in Lamar with seeding
recommendations.
The plan does not expand the permit area but does reconfigure the permanent lake shorelines and
provide for handling high water events occurring in the river.
Valco has a contract with the City of Lamar that provides that when reclamation is complete
except for final release for the establishment of the vegetation, the property will be donated to
the City. The City will assume the water augmentation responsibility and provide public access
for various recreational and wildlife activities.
Also included is a check for the $216.00 revision fee.
Please contact me with any questions
Sincerely,
Valco, Inc.
Thomas E.
