December 14, 2011 C- 1981 - 014 /Southfield Mine JHB <br />good repair and functioning well. <br />ROADS — Rule 4.03 Drainage 4.03.1(4)/4.03.2(4) Surfacing and Maintenance4.03.1(5) and <br />(6)/4.03.2(5) and (6) Reclamation 4.03.1(7)/4.03.2(7): <br />The access roads in the mine area were snow covered with several inches of snow. Warm temperatures <br />during the inspection resulted in the snow melting off and the roads were soft. The inspection did not access <br />the Monarch fan due to the slick conditions. The access road to the RDA was in good condition. Water <br />bars cut into the road were effective in directing runoff into the ditches. No problems were identified with <br />the approved roads in the permit area. <br />RECLAMATION SUCCESS - Rule 4.15, Rule 3: <br />The revegetated areas appear stable and have good vegetative cover established. There was no evidence of <br />rilling or gullying on the reclaimed slopes. <br />SUBSIDENCE — Rule 4.20: <br />One of the Landowners, Dr. Corley, had contacted the Division regarding several "subsidence" holes that <br />the landowner had found on his property. Dr. Corley identified seven features that he believes have <br />developed surface expression within the last year (2011). He notified the division via e-mail regarding these <br />holes on November 18, 2011. The holes are located near two brasscap markers, identifying an IMP project <br /># 8123. This project "Canyon City project" was conducted by the DRMS -IMP in 1988 and completed in <br />1989. <br />George Patterson directed the inspector to the location of the identified holes. 6 holes were located and GPS <br />coordinates were collected. The 7th feature noted by the landowner was not located. GPS used = Trimble <br />GeoXT. <br />The area where the holes are located is heavily wooded and east of Newlin Creek, West of the Southfield <br />RDA. The first and largest hole (hole 1) was approximately 15 feet deep, 45 feet long and 25 feet deep. <br />There are tree trunks and large rocks visible in this hole. Hole 1 was located just north of the southern <br />brasscap marker. <br />Hole 2 is smaller and located North of hole 1 and the northern brasscap marker. Hole 2 is approximatley 5 <br />feet deep, 15 feet long, and 8 feet wide. An old spoil pile is located east of hole 2. <br />Hole 3 is west of hole 2, and north of hole 1. Dimensions are approximately 15 feet deep, 15 feet wide and 30 <br />feet long. <br />Hole 4 is SW of hole 3 and NW of hole 1. Dimensions are approximately 15 feet deep, 35 feet long, and 25 <br />feet wide. <br />Hole 5 is south of hole 4,and SW of hole 1. Dimensions are approximately 10 feet deep, 25 feet wide, and 25 <br />feet long. The sides of this hole are abrupt and steep.
