OBSERVATIONS
PERMIT #: M-2011-049
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: ECS
INSPECTION DATE: December 13, 2011
This was a "pre -op" inspection for a new 112c application - the Treiber Lakes site. The inspection was
conducted by Eric Scott of DRMS. DRMS met with David Jordan of Lafarge and consultant for City of
Greeley /Tri -Lakes Water Bill Schenderlein on -site at approximately 0930. The site entrance is located on the
west side of Taft Hill Road north of Ft Collins, near the west side of the Lafarge Home Office Pit site (M1977-
439). The permit applied for notice was present at the entrance to the Lafarge site, but needs to be placed at the
entrance to the new permit area as noted on the first page of this report. This will also apply to the mine
identification sign when the permit is approved.
The proposed 94 acre Treiber Lakes permit was previously part of the 601 acre Lafarge Home Office Pit. This
area is being "re- permitted" by the City of Greeley so that it can be reclaimed by them as developed water
storage. When the new Treiber Lakes permit is approved, that area will be released from the existing Lafarge
Home Office Pit permit. The Lafarge plant area and scale house is located immediately adjacent to the new
Treiber Lakes site, therefore the new permit boundary between these sites will need to be clearly and
permanently marked to prevent any "off site impacts" to the new permit area or between the two sites.
Mining in the new Treiber Lakes permit area was previously completed by Lafarge, who still operate the
remaining permitted area of the Home Office Pit. Reclamation for the new permit will include the installation
of a slurry wall, some re- sloping of the existing lake shore areas, and revegetation of disturbed areas. When the
revised reclamation plan has been completed by the City of Greeley, and the slurry wall has been approved by
the SEO, DRMS will release the permit on this site.
No other issues or problems were noted during the inspection. This concluded the inspection and DRMS left
the site at approximately 1040.
