The BLM's Little Snake Field Office in Craig, Colorado, was
also consulted for information regarding previously completed projects, inventoried
areas, and recorded cultural properties on July 25, 2005.
The file search indicates that 36 projects have previously been conducted within the
Colowyo mine permit area. They were conducted for a variety of undertakings that
included linear, block, and combination linear/block surveys, and they are summarized in
Table 8. Approximately 10,838 acres of the current mine permit area have previously
been inventoried for cultural resources. These large projects, along with numerous
smaller projects, substantially cover the lands within the proposed Collom lease tract.
The file search indicates that 12 previously recorded sites are located within the Collom
lease tract (Table 9). They consist of seven historic sites, four rock cairns of
undetermined age, and one lithic scatter with an associated rock pile /cairn of unknown
age that may constitute a multi- component site.
Within the proposed Collom lease area, the seven historic sites, the four cairns of
unknown age, and the lithic scatter and cairn of unknown age, are officially not eligible
for the NRHP.
Table 9 Summary of Previous Projects
P PROJI( 1S 01ASP %FmJI ••I
40
