SCOPE <br />The following report presents the results of a geotechnical investigation at Varra Companies <br />Heintzelman's Pit located in Weld County, Colorado. The investigation was performed for Divide <br />Construction. The purpose of this investigation was to obtain the technical information and subsurface soil <br />bearing capacities for the design and construction o f shallow foundations for the mining conveyor system. <br />The conclusions and recommendations presented in this report are based upon analysis of field and <br />laboratory data and experience with similar subsurface conditions in the general vicinity. <br />SITE DESCRIPTION <br />The Varra Companies Heintzelman's Gravel Pit is located approximately 4 miles east of Interstate 25 on <br />the south side of State Highway 66. The mining conveyor system is proposed to cross County Road 28 and <br />to run along County Road 17. This area is relatively flat and is presently farmland. <br />FIELD INVESTIGATION <br />The field investigation consisted of 4 boring chosen by the client along the proposed mining conveyor system <br />route. The borings were advanced with an Acker AD -II drill rig utilizing 4 -inch diameter continuous flight <br />augers. <br />As the boring operations advanced, an index of soils relative density and consistency was obtained by use <br />of the standard penetration test, ASTM Standard Test D -1 586.
