Pineda 5731 Highway 13 Director Meeker, CO 81641 RE: Colowyo Coal Mine, C1981 -019, 2011 Third and Fourth Quarter West Pit Fill Report, and 2011 Third and Fourth Quarter South Taylor Fill Report Dear Mr. Tennyson: The Division received Colowyo Coal Company's (CCC) 2011 Third Quarter West Pit Fill Report, and 2011 Third Quarter South Taylor Fill Report on September 22, 2011. The 2011 Fourth Quarter West Pit Fill Report and 2011 Fourth Quarter South Taylor Fill Report was received on October 20, 2011. Submittal of these reports is in compliance with Rule 4.09.1(11)(b). South Taylor Fill: The third quarter 2011 inspection was conducted by registered engineer, Mr. Thomas Peterson, on September 19, 2011. A -A' underdrain construction is reported to be complete. The operator is in the process of placing fill over the A -A' underdrain. B -B' underdrain is complete, and fill has been placed over the drain. C -C' underdrain is complete. C -C' drain has been covered with spoil. At the C -C' area bench 7800, and bench 7850 are completed, while bench 7900 and bench 7950 continue to receive fill material. No structural problems were identified in the third quarter report. The fourth quarter 2011 inspection was conducted by registered engineer, Mr. Thomas Peterson, on October 19, 2011. B -B' underdrain is complete, and fill has been placed over the drain. C -C' underdrain is complete. C -C' drain has been covered with spoil.
