ROADS—Rule 4.03 Construction 4.03.1(3)/4.03.2(3) Drainage 4.03.1(4)/4.03.2(4) Surfacing and
Maintenance4.03.1(5) and(6)/4.03.2(5) and(6) Reclamation 4.03.1(7)/4.03.2(7):
The paved entrance road was clear of any debris or blockage. The cable guard was up on the outside edge
of the road.
RECLAMATION SUCCESS -Rule 4.15,Rule 3:
The flat facilities area had poor to no vegetative cover in some areas. The reclaimed access road up the
hillside had a good vegetative cover and appeared to be stable. The reclaimed fan site was also stable with a good
cover of vegetation. There continues to exist an ongoing stability problem with the backfilled and graded west
portals area. Cracks and holes in the backfilled areas continue to show up.
REVEGETATION— Rule 4.15 Vegetative Cover; Timing:
The revegetated areas on the east side of the hillside have good cover and have contributed to stability of
the reclaimed slopes. These areas include the reclaimed access road and the reclaimed fan site area. However,the
ongoing stability problems at the west hillside backfilled portals area have contributed to a poor to fair cover of
vegetation. There are some bare areas and some poorly vegetated areas on the flat facilities area.
Tamarisk continues to grow in the hillside spring area,in the hillside spring water treatment pond and near the
river where the treated spring water enters the black culvert.
SLIDES and DAMAGE -Rule 4.12:
Cracks and holes continue to develop in the immediate vicinity of the backfilled west hillside portals area.
This area appears to be adversely affected by the natural landslide adjacent and to the west of the permit area.
SUPPORT FACILITIES -Rule 4.04:
The bridge over the North Fork of the Gunnison River was passable. Some of the boards on the bridge are
loose,however.
SIGNS AND MARKERS— Rule 4.02:
The mine identification sign was on its post at the top of the bill. The required information was on the
sign. The "records location" sign was also up at the top of the hill. Surface disturbance markers were up around the
disturbed area. The stream buffer zone/surface disturbance markers were up along the river.
