•
4S E/VECA
Coal Company
November 15, 2011
Ms. Susan Burgmaier
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
RE: Seneca II -W Mine (Permit No. C- 1982 -057)
Permit Revision No. 6 (PR -06)
Adequacy Responses
Ms. Burgmaier,
General Comments
Seneca Coal Company
RECEIVED
NOV 15ZQ11
Division uiK n,
Mining and Safety
Seneca Coal Company (SCC) has reviewed the Division's adequacy letter, dated September 9, 2011, and
is submitting the following responses.
1. The acreage information provided on the application form submitted with the revision materials
appears to be in error. The form indicates there will a decrease in permitted acreage of 214.7 acres,
with corresponding decreases in state (56.1 acres) and private (158.6 acres). Appendix 3 -1 of the
currently approved permit application package includes a legal description for the TAHR that shows
that the total acreage is 214.5 acres, of which 55.7 acres are state owned. Please verify which
acreage is correct, and revise the application form if necessary.
Response: The 214.7 acres is a digitized /calculated /reconciled number which Seneca has been using for
a number of years. The 55.7 (state- owned) acres used by the Division is evidently a number that was
approved during the initial permit approval process (over 30 years ago) and that the Division has been
using ever since. Seneca also reconciled this number and has been using 56.1 acres which can be
documented digitally. The application form doesn't need further revision.
2. For all deleted exhibits, permit pages, and permit sections, SCC needs to include a page that
indicates that the item has been intentionally deleted.
Response: An attempt has been made to comply with this comment.
Permit Index List of Exhibits
3. Deleted exhibits should be listed and noted as "deleted"
• Response: Permit Index List of Permits has been revised.
Seneca Coal Company • P.O.
