•
•
•
6 (FORM 2 - Public filing)
8. Describe the estimated topsoil depth and how topsoil will be salvaged, stockpiled and redistributed for the re- establishment of
vegetation. Specify approximate topsoil redistribution depth:
The topsoil at the site is mixed with a matrix of immature sandy loam surrounding large
cobble and boulder clasts. This unconsolidated unit is very discontinuous, very thin (Oft to
an estimated maximum of 10ft deep), and has a sharp contact with the underlying bedrock.
No topsoil is proposed to be stockpiled for reclamation. The long term end -use of the site is
intended to be preserved for mining related activities, therefore capping and vegetating the
existing waste rock footprint or the proposed expansion area does not meet the wishes of
the private land owner.
9. Describe how drill holes will be plugged (refer to Rule 5.4 of the Rules for required abandonment procedures):
Under this initial Notice, no surface drilling is being proposed. However, depending on
results from underground exploration activities, surface drilling may be considered in the
future. If surface drilling does become a necessary component for this project RSAS will
submit an amendment to this Notice under separate cover and will not conduct any surface
drilling without prior approval from DRMS.
10. Describe how portals, adits, shafts, ponds, excavations, or other disturbances will be reclaimed (refer to Rule 3 and Rule 5 for
specific reclamation performance standards). You may wish to contact the Division for closure specifications.
As stated above, the long term end -use of the site is intended to be preserved for mining related
activities, therefore capping and vegetating the existing waste rock footprint or the proposed
expansion area does not meet the wishes of the private land owner. The existing waste rock
pad, portal, discharge channel, and pond are all components that the private landowner wishes
to preserve for long term future use at the site. However, the following reclamation activities will
be completed upon site closure: Stabilization of any over - steepened slopes; revegetation of any
newly impacted surfaces that are not concealed by the old and new extents of the waste rock
pad; necessary re- grading and berm construction on the top of the waste rock pad to ensure
long term resistance to erosion; continuous water quality monitoring of the Oyama Tunnel
discharge until RSAS is released from the CDPS permit requirements.
11. Describe how roads will be reclaimed or returned to their pre - prospecting (or better) condition:
No roads will be reclaimed as part of this project. Access to the project will be entirely from
permanent roads that are maintained by San Juan County.
