•
• 11. Describe proposed surface excavation or other land disturbance, including roads, pits, trenches, waste piles, drill pads and
collar areas of underground workings, ponds, etc...
Access to the project will be entirely from existing roads that are maintained by San Juan County. A gate will be installed at the
entrance to the Oyama Tunnel waste rock pad from the adjacent county road to prevent public access to the site. In addition,
NO TRESPASSING and DANGER signage will be posted on the shoulder of county road that spans the length of the permit
boundary. The existing unvegetated waste rock pad outside of the Oyama Tunnel, and adjacent to the county road, will serve
as the surface area for staging personal vehicles, exploration equipment, a seasonal surface plant, and sample storage.
Storage and disposal of the estimated 7,500 cubic yards of excavated material not retained as samples will be placed on the
northwestern toe of the existing waste rock pad and will comprise approximately 0.58 acres of new disturbance.
12. Proposed Disturbance (approximate) Describe the proposed drilling to be conducted, including anticipated number of holes,
diameter, depth, location, etc... Other Disturbances (please describe):
4 (FORM 2 - Public filing)
(ft) Average Length
Described proposed underground work, including reopening of old workings, advancement of adits or shafts,
trenches, pits, cuts, rock dumps, or other types of disturbance, describe type, quantity and general dimensions:
RSAS notified DRMS on August 8th, 2011 that it had replaced DRMS' impassable barricade at the Oyama Tunnel's portal with a secure locking gate. To
date RSAS has physically inspected the first -100 feet of the tunnel, and has found it to be in very good condition. However, RSAS is taking the safety
precaution of ventilating the remainder of the 2,500 feet of existing underground workings prior to completing physical inspection of the entire tunnel.
Therefore the exact nature of underground exploration activities remains unknown until physical inspection of the workings is accomplished. Assuming that
the underground workings are found to be in good working order, it is anticipated that drilling and blasting will be done to extend the now 2,500 foot long
nnel an additional 800 feet in length with drift dimensions of 12 feet wide by 10 feet high (comprising -5,330 cubic yards of broken rock to be disposed of
surface). In addition to extending the tunnel, it is anticipated that two exploration raises will be driven above the tunnel level with approximate dimensions
00 feet in height (each raise), 6 feet wide, and 6 feet long (comprising -2,070 cubic yards of broken rock to be disposed on of the surface).
G. Indicate Chemicals and Fuels used or stored on site. List type, quantity and method to store.
There will be no hazardous materials stored on site at any time. During the working season (approx. mid -May to mid - Oct.), diesel fuel
will be stored at the seasonal surface plant in approved mobile fuel storage tanks that collectively will not exceed 500 gallons. All other
fuels and lubricants on site will be retained in the mine vehicles, thereby limiting any significant spill opportunities. Spill prevention
measures will be kept on site for use in case of any incidental releases (sorbent towels for any spills and 55- gallon drums for disposal).
During the off - season (approx. mid -Oct. to mid -May) no fuels will be stored on site. Explosives will be stored in a dry, secure location
underground in a manner that meets both BATF and MSHA requirements. No explosives will be stored underground during the
off- season.
F. New Road(s): Length NONE (ft) Width (ft)
Significantly Upgraded Road(s) Length NONE (ft) Width (ft)
Are culverts or other crossings proposed? If so, please describe:
NONE
