Soil in stockpiles (Table 00.1) = 73.1 acre -feet Mean replacement depth 0.75 feet Based on the random check of soil replacement on the "A" pit area, which indicated an average replacement depth of 2.2 feet over approximately 160 acres and the remaining calculated average replacement depth, the overall average replacement depth should be close to the original projected depth. The soil balance will be updated annually as reclamation proceeds. REVEGETATION • Seeding and Shrub Planting A total of 234.6 acres were seeded /planted in 2004. The majority of the area was seeded using Seed Mix #1 (see Table 04.2, Seed Mix #1, for constituents). New shrub sites were established in the "A ", `B ", and "D" Pit areas. The sites were prepared by roughening the soil with small dozer push -ups in an attempt to increase snow water retention. These areas were hand seeded with Concentrated Shrub Seeding Mix #6 (see Table 04.3, Seed Mix #6, for constituents). Shrub Plots. Approximately 29,800 seedlings and 400 one gallon sized aspen saplings were planted at II -W, locations of the sites are shown on the attached 2004 Reclamation Map. Following is the breakdown indicating the number of seedling species planted in each area. The Aspen Test Plot was constructed, fenced and irrigation system installed to the site.
