October 11, 2011
Mr. Dustin Czapla
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
101 South 3 Suite 101
Grand Junction, Colorado 81501
Re: Technical Revision #2 Lyster Pit M- 2008 -009
Mr. Czapla,
1'1\' -2' °0 rb
OCT ' 1 2011
I BRAND JUNCTION FIELD OFFICE
RECLAMATION
DIVISION OF
SAFETY
RECIEVIIID
NOV 0 4 2011
Connell Resources, Inc. is in the final process of mining Phase I of the Lyster Pit.
We propose to start mining Phase II at the end of 2011 and continue through 2014
or until gravel deposits are depleted. The mining plan for Phase II would be as
described in Phase I as follows:
a. Mining operations will remove 6 " -12" top soil to be removed and
stock piled as 2' -6' of overburden to be removed and used in
reclamation of slopes after the mining operation is completed.
b. Water will be discharged from pit into sediment pond and then
transferred to a Moffat county drainage ditch north of SH 394 via a
24" culvert as in Phase I.
c. Phase II consists of 30 acres for a total for Phase I and II at 60 acres.
d. The three (3) monitoring wells will be recorded monthly as in Phase I.
There has been no issues raised about the dewatering of the pit area or
surrounding area.
The reclamation has been on going in Phase I. The reclamation for Phase I and II
will be ongoing as the mining operation is completed. The reclamation on Phase I
will not be completed until Phase II gravel resources have been depleted. When
phase II is depleted the reclamation of both phases can be completed. After
placing and shaping of overburden in reclaimed area, 6 " -10" of topsoil will be
spread across reclaimed surfaces and will be seeded as follows per soil
conservation office. Slopes will be graded to 3:1 around the pond, then seeded as
follows:
1. Sainfoin — 2.5 lbs /acre
2. Bromine Smooth —1.6 lbs /acre
3. Intermediate Wheatgrass — 2.5 lbs /acre
4. Pubescent Wheatgrass — 2.25 lbs /acre
5. Orchard — 0.3 lbs /acre
6. Cottonwood and Willow trees to be planted around edges of pond.
•
Diviaon of Psciam&Hion,
Mflag and Safely
1
MIRE
•
n
I 01 mt EL
