These riparian trees will be replaced at the end of Phase 3
construction once Ralston Creek is restored and sufficient area is available for these trees to establish
and create additional PMJM riparian habitat.
The majority of the proposed Phase 1 project impacts are temporary. Impacts are considered
temporary if the impacted area can be restored in place after Phase 1 construction is complete, or if the
impacted area will be restored when Phase 3 of the Project is complete. Temporary impacts to
previously disturbed PMJM riparian habitat (0.14 acre), previously disturbed PMJM upland habitat
(1.16 acre), and previously heavily disturbed upland that is not considered PMJM habitat (3.67 acres)
accounts for most of the Phase 1 temporary impacts (see Figures 7 through 9 and Table 10). The
majority of areas used for construction access, staging, and storage has been located in areas that
have already been too heavily impacted to be considered PMJM habitat. Upland areas not considered
PMJM habitat include the existing unpaved access road up to and crossing the cutoff wall location.
Page 32 August 2011
